These seems to be a large quantity of phones coming out every week and it is hard to keep track of them. The new Motorola Moto G4 Plus which is the flagship of the new Moto G affordable line which is the first phone release for Chinese based Lenovo the new owner of Motorola mobility; was to be a big introduction.
The Phone is competitive but a little under-powered, it retains some of the design cues of the last Moto G3 phone line but with a distinctive Lenovo style change by adding the square finger print reader button. The camera is improved along with the laser auto focus and the front camera as well.
What about Slow motion?
The slow motion specs are a step backward compare to the Moto G3 of 2015 which had 720p at 120fps. The new mode in the Moto G4 Plus maxes out at 520p 120fps which is a 200 vertical line loss in resolution. At first glance it seems like they just limited the 720p mode down to have more differentiation in video modes for the phone lines in Lenovo’s offering.
That is not all, the 1080p mode is limited to 30fps not 60p like in competing phones and 4k is absent as well.
We expect to see better frame rate and resolution video specs in the Moto X line refresh from Lenovo as that phone has to battle for market share in a completely different echelon from the Moto G.
It looks like a good phone line with mostly improved specs in most of the important parts but as a slow motion device the under-powered resolution is not enough to rate or recommend it as an option.
