The LX7 is a great slow motion camera on the cheap and you can still get one while they last for under $400. Rumors around the net hint that a replacement Panasonic LX8 is being readied for a July 16th release.
Specs wise not much is known but the claims say that a 1″ sensor and Electronic View Finder EVF not unlike that of the Sony RX100 mkIII will be the big upgrades. The Panasonic LX7 does great slow motion at 720p 120fps with quality too good for something this small. It will be premature to predict but the logical progression for the LX8 is to offer 120fps at 1080p and 240fps at 720p. Don’t hold your breath but if this camera delivers it might become the next best thing in cheap quality Slow Motion.
Panasonic ZS40
The ZS40 “TZ60 in Some Parts of the World” has been gracing YouTube and Vimeo with new sample of the 120fps 720p mode and we have gathered a few for your enjoyment. The quality is in our view below the LX7 and Nikon 1 cameras for 120p slow motion but it’s still not too bad for such a small sensor camera. It is good enough to occupy the 11th spot in our HSC Camera guide for Affordable Slow Motion. You be the judge.
