Sony PXW-FS7 4k Camcorder does 180fps

FS7Sony

Last Friday it was announced  that the rumored successor to the FS700 slow motion camera will launch but there were inaccuracies in the rumors. The presented camera the PXW-FS7 4k will not be the successor to the FS700 but a camera sold as a new product line. No direct replacement for the FS700 was mentioned.

The new camera specs:

  • 180fps in full HD 1080p
  • Super35 ‘Exmor’ CMOS sensor with 8.8 million-effective pixels
  • 4k QFHD (3,840×2,160) at up to 60fps internally
  • Two XQD card slots
  • 4:2:2 10-bit colour sampling up to 600Mb/s XAVC Intra codec
  • Raw output up to 240fps
  • Body only price: $7,999.00

The quality of the camera is professional in every sense and we expect the slow motion to be as good or better than the FS700 because it sports a much better codec than AVCHD, while internally it only does 180fps in 1080p it can output 240fps to a raw recorder which will retain the utmost quality.   However It seems that the FS700 still retains the crown for the best slow motion quality in the Sony camp for budget customers as the price has now been reduced further to $5,999.00
